EIP’s report reveals that companies have proposed at least 65 carbon capture and storage projects in Louisiana, the most of any state, plus eleven pipelines to carry carbon dioxide to waste disposal or drilling sites.
The highest concentration of these projects is in southwestern Louisiana, in Cameron Parish, where 11 projects are planned, many to collect and inject underground the carbon dioxide from a cluster of liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminals that are being built and expanded.
