EIP’s Statement in Response to the Election of Donald Trump

Statement from EIP Executive Director Jen Duggan Following Tuesday’s Presidential Election

Washington, D.C. – In response to the election of Donald Trump as America’s next President, the Environmental Integrity Project’s director issued the following statement about the likely environmental impact of the next administration and how our organization will respond.

“The Environmental Integrity Project is America’s environmental watchdog and our job just became all the more important with Donald Trump’s victory in this election,” said Jen Duggan, Executive Director of the Environmental Integrity Project. “We know what’s at stake for communities and we are determined to fight hard to defend against all efforts to give polluters a free pass. We witnessed Trump roll back more than 100 pollution-control rules and install industry advocates to run EPA the first time he took office. But we pushed back then in court and focused a spotlight on efforts to weaken public health and environmental protections. And we will fight back now by continuing to demand compliance with the law from EPA and polluters, and by informing the public. The stakes are too high to hesitate. We are ready.”
