Analysis of 2019 Data on Greenhouse Gases from Oil, Gas, and Petrochemical Production

Although greenhouse gas pollution from oil and gas drilling is expected to decline in 2020 during the recession, emissions jumped 34 percent from 2016 to 2019, and are expected to rise another 15 percent by 2026 as the U.S. economy and energy industry recover, according to EIP’s analysis of the most recent available data from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Energy Information Administration.
